Abstract:
Rape myths are false beliefs of an individual with regards to rape, rapists and the victims which can be categorized as prejudicial and stereotyped; rape myth acceptance refers the level or extend to which an individual believes in them. Aim: The purpose of this study was to review researches on the impact of media: cinema, internet, web media, print media etc. on prevalence of rape myth acceptance in individuals. Method: Total of 23 out of 48 researches were considered from over a period of 10 years. Conclusion: There is significant impact of various modes of media on increasing level of rape myth acceptance in individuals. Recommendation: Further researches can focus on influence of social media on rape myth acceptance.
