Abstract:

Studies carried out across various countries state that nurses experience a lot of pressure in their job and have exhibitedburnout. This research studies the possibility of burnout among nurses working in the emergency wards of private hospitals inGuwahati, Assam, across four private hospitals. The researcher has followed a quantitative, descriptive design with a nonprobabilitysampling due to shortage of respondents. The research concludes that the respondents experience a moderate levelof burnout. The study identifies the different factors that contribute to their stress and also the impact of these stressors on theirprofessional and personal lives.
