Abstract:

Studies carried out across various countries state that nurses experience a lot of pressure in their job and have exhibited

burnout. This research studies the possibility of burnout among nurses working in the emergency wards of private hospitals in

Guwahati, Assam, across four private hospitals. The researcher has followed a quantitative, descriptive design with a nonprobability

sampling due to shortage of respondents. The research concludes that the respondents experience a moderate level

of burnout. The study identifies the different factors that contribute to their stress and also the impact of these stressors on their

professional and personal lives.
