Abstract:

The intersection of culture and mental health is a compelling subject in literature, often reflecting societal norms, prejudices, and the human condition. Fictional narratives serve as a mirror to cultural attitudes toward mental health, offering nuanced insights into how mental illnesses are perceived, addressed, and represented across diverse cultures. This paper explores cultural perspectives on mental health as depicted in fiction, focusing on themes of stigma, resilience, and societal influence. By analysing selected works, this study aims to uncover how fiction not only portrays mental health issues but also shapes public discourse.
